ADDITIONAL PPE RELATED REGULATIONS


The PPE at Work Regulations do not apply where PPE is provided under the ‘six sets’ of existing Regulations. These Regulations already require the use of some types of PPE to protect against certain risks, for example the Noise at Work Regulations require the use of hearing protection where necessary.

The ‘six sets’ of Regulations are:

The Control of Lead at Work Regulations 1980

The Ionising Radiations Regulations 1985

The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 1987

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1994

The Construction (Head Protection) Regulations 1989

The Noise at Work Regulations 1989
